چکیده

SINCE the introduction of faster operating speeds for rotating instruments, there has been an increased concern regarding the effects of various instruments on the cut tooth surface. Very little information on this subject exists in the literature. The work of Street' describing the effects of instruments on enamel walls represents the most complete report in the current literature. It is the purpose of this report to describe an alternate procedure for examining the tooth surface as it exists after being cut with various instruments. Particular emphasis will be placed upon the technic and procedure of observing the cut tooth surface.

A Comparative Investigation of Marginal Adaptation and Surface Defects of MTA and Root MTA as Two Root End Filling Materials

Introduction: This study was carried out to compare two retrograde filling materials entitled mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and Root MTA (RMTA) in regard to their marginal adaptation and surface defects. Method: In this study twenty extracted human teeth were used. In all teeth after cleaning and shaping, the root canals were obturated by gutta-percha and root canal sealer. After that in eac...

The envelope of motion and Protaper Next

They found that utilisation of standard instruments in either reaming and/or filing produced preparations that were irregular in shape, and were not continuously tapering. The narrowest part of the canal, the so-called ‘elbow’, was located at a point coronal to the apex or foramen. In addition, the foramen often displayed transportation, which was called the ‘apical zip’. These characteristics ...

Profile characteristics of cut tooth surfaces developed by rotating instruments.

THE irregularity of the cut tooth surfaces resulting from the shaping of cavities would appear to have a twofold significance. First, these irregularies should have some effect on the adaptation of the specified filling material to the cavity walls, and second, they may tend to undermine or weaken groups of enamel rods at the eavo-surface margins, thus resulting in a failure of the tooth struct...

AIM To illustrate the conceptual basis and the operative procedure of the Anatomic Endodontic Technology (AET) technique and to illustrate the specific instruments used in each phase. SUMMARY The basic characteristics of the AET technique are reported. The instruments and procedure are described in three phases: coronal access, coronal-middle preparation and apical preparation. In the first p...

Ectopic Molar with Maxillary Sinus Drainage Obstruction and Oroantral Fistula

Introduction: Ectopic tooth eruption may result owing to one of 3 processes: developmentalDisturbance, iatrogenic activity, or pathologic process, such as a tumor or a cyst. In rare cases, occlusion of the sinus ostia may predispose a patient to develop a maxillary sinus mucocele. When the maxillary sinus is invaded, symptoms usually occur late in the process.   Case report: A 17 years old boy...
